KINGSTON, Jamaica – The West Indies Players’ Association expresses condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former cricketer, Joey Benjamin.
Born in St. Kitts, Benjamin had a successful first-class career in England between 1988 and 1999, having signed professional contracts for Warwickshire in 1988 and Surrey in 1992, ultimately claiming 387 first-class wickets. He went on to play one (1) Test and two (2) One-Day Internationals for England in 1994 and 1995. Benjamin reportedly passed on March 8, 2021; he was 60 years old.
WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds expressed, “We extend condolences to Joey Benjamin’s family and friends and to the cricket fraternity in the West Indies and in England. May grace be with you and may his soul rest in peace and light shine upon him perpetually.”
